Amerks win preseason opener

The Rochester Americans stunned the Syracuse Crunch with a 3-2 overtime victory in American Hockey League preseason action this afternoon at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.

Former Everblade Jonathan Lehun scored the game-winner at 1:26 of OT to give Rochester a win in its preseason opener.

Panther prospect Adam Taylor also scored for the Amerks.

The two teams rematch tomorrow night at 7:05 at the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.

In related news, the Panthers assigned goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier to Rochester.

Pelletier played in two of the Cats preseason games stopping 21 of 22 shots on goal. Last season, Pelletier went 21-15-1 with a GAA of 3.28 in 39 games with Rochester. The Atlanta, GA native needs only two more wins to record his 100th career AHL victory.
